"The Closer" was a favorite program here, probably because I identified with the chocolate/candy drawer. So glad Fritz got Brenda's candy back for her!! Not sure about the new show yet.

I am a real fan of the Closer. I loved the mom and hated to see her die. The final episode was okay esp the gift portion. I was really disappointed with Major Crimes because I don't care for Mary either. Like all of you the glasses and mouth stuff drives me nuts. It's like she doesn't have a personality. We were Monk fans too.

the mumbling and talking fast seems to be the "new" thing in all of the new tv shows............have to put the volume up to catch everything said and no my ears are fine.........Major Crimes is still a question in my must see list.........some of the new things coming up in the fall sound quite interesting............hope there are more than 10 episodes in the new season..........to many breaks for "specials" and "sport events".......JMHO

I also was sorry the Mom died, she was charming but the Father was a pain in the butt (gee, just like real life, LOL!)
I love crime/mystery shows too and have to say the English really do them well. All time favorite was Morse, 2nd Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren as Jane, and tied for 3rd are The Closer and the orginal Law and Order. Of course the English also have some duds, did you ever see their version of Law and Order? Exactly same plots as the American ones.

Major Crimes might make it if they keep the same writers and it doesn't turn into a comedy with Flynn and Provenza getting into jams all of the tim, I love those guys.

I will also miss The Closer. Brenda was an interesting character and was developed over the show. I don't care about Capt Rayder's character. It is difficult to understand what she's saying with her voice pitched so low and soft. She does not come across as a sympathetic character; she's too controlled. We'll have to wait and see whether MC will make it or not.

Am glad to know I am not the only one who does not like Mary. I will probably not be as faithful to Major Crimes as I was to The Closer.
