I love veggie omelets. I leave off the ham or bacon because of the sodium. But chicken or turkey is just as good. Or I just do vegetables. I can eat them any time of the day. [I love red meat, but since I learned how long the residue from red meats stays "with us" in our intestines, I am reminded not to eat it so often. It forms a "sludge" in the intestines and takes days before it's gone. And if we don't eat enough fiber, it'll be with us even longer. YUK! So have those veggie omelets and enjoy.

Cindy, It doesn't matter either way to me. I"ve enjoyed mailing them at the first of the month because it makes me accountable from the beginning, but can mail them to the winner at the end of the month. I've tried to check in every so often here, but I'm not one of the 'chatty' ones, I guess. But I agree with Pam, thanks for your efforts here - and the work you've done with this and for us.

I, also, have been checking in but not a lot of "Chat". Maybe that's why the scale has gone up. When I "talk" to you, I am more responsible. So I would like to see the thread continue, FQ whatever. I get "down" and then I tend to sit on the sidelines instead of cheering everybody else on. GO TEAM GO!!!!

With Mom at the memory unit, I now can schedule other things. So this morning I went down to the blood bank and donated. Of course, while I was gone, there was a message from a brother that will be passing through and wants to stop. Ladies, please say some prayers for us. This is the brother that I haven't seen or heard from since Mom came to live with us last July. Know it will be a shock to him that she is in the unit and how she looks. Me, well I'm a stress eater, so I am going to try to be good to myself today. Wish now he hadn't left the message, but just stopped in. Now I have hours to stew.

I did buy 2 packages of chicken breasts that were on sale. So will have veggies for lunch and a chicken breast for supper.

Take care - be good to YOU. I will not have another soda today, I promise you.

thanks for the eggs idea! i haven't cooked for the past 2 weeks at least, maybe longer ( who remembers these things?). stitches out tomorrow. my drink of choice, other than water is iced coffee or tea. i had a frozen raspberry margarita the other night and altho' it was a caloric no-no, it hit the spot. kool-aide for adults! lol ! my dh has a soda machine which was a present because he drinks gallons of seltzer water. now i've discovered i like it, too. no calories, and you can add things like a sprig of mint, or a twist of citrus and it is refreshing. all my life i've been asked if i was diabetic because i almost always have a drink in hand, usually water. i'm not. never have been ( so far), but i get dehydrated very quickly. so i drink!
di, it's always hard for the non-caretaker child to see their parent after a span of time. they are not as prepared for the rapid failing that takes place. i didn't see my mom. other than pictures, and those were hard enough. i imagine your brother will be shocked. losing our parents for many of us is a process before the final event. i hope your brother understands that. no matter how old we get, we refuse to believe our parents will get older, on a very deep level. in my mind i accept it, in my heart i never will. . congrats on the blood donation! so important for the coming holiday for the blood banks to have enough !! encourage others who can to do so as well! i give platelets, and less often whole blood. need to make an appointment! thanks for the reminder!

Well, went with hubby to doctor for a little in-office surgery to remove a cyst from his back. He wanted to go out to eat afterwards. I was good though. Had meat loaf and beans. Did fall off the wagon though and has a small peach cobbler. It was one of the senior desserts and fairly small. My scale has been heading downwards, but still nothing more than a 1 lb loss - need to increase the exercise if I eat dessert again. I'll try not to do that again - at least for awhile. What's our taboo food this week? Didn't see it posted.

Well, I went back and re-read some of the posts - when I hit the button on page one to take me to the last read post, it took me too far and I missed a whole page of comments. Also found the taboo. Well, I broke it already as I had meat loaf, but hadn't read that post till now - so will cut that out of the diet for the rest of the week. I don't eat a whole lot of red meat - if I do, it's mostly in the ground meat type, so maybe won't have too much trouble. I made it the whole week last week without rice - actually made it. I don't think I've missed it too much, either. We'll see about this.

Sorry I haven't been on here to comment in the last week. Got back from VA and worked 2 days. Then off 2 days, one of which I went to Johns Hopkins to participate in the 2nd Phase of a study group. I did this last year and they called me back. It's because I had an EKG done about 3 yrs. ago and I fit the criteria they needed for the study. I get all sorts of stuff done to me for free...well, they actually pay me, and pay for my parking and give me a $10 food voucher for lunch. DH took me this time because I had to go during the early morning rush hour, which I hate, so they gave him a $10 voucher too. When I finished we ate in the cafeteria. They have great food and healthy choices. I did very well there. And when the testing was done they told me my heart was in great shape...kind of like getting a 2-for!!

This past weekend I worked, and was super busy. All sorts of things going on around here. Kept my mind off of food, which is always a good thing. I lost a lb. or 2 which was a good thing.

Sunday was crabs with my DH, DD, parents and DB and his wife. I think that might have been all I had that day. I went to help my GF put her longarm together that she bought, came home and cleaned up some things around the house and then it was off to pick up crabs and go eat. We had a wonderful evening, and I picked a box full of tomatoes!! So yesterday I made 2 crock pots full of tomato sauce to freeze, and cooked a big turkey breast for DH to have to eat for sandwiches this week. Now today and tomorrow it's back to work. This will be my 3 day weekend coming up, so I'm taking my mom to JoAnn's for their sale early friday morning and then to BJ's to get somethings. Then I'm quilting the rest of the weekend. I have a flannel quilt laid out on the floor I need to sew together, and a quilt on the longarm to quilt.

Well, I think I've caught up for now. I promise as soon as the summer calms down I'll be posting more. Have a GREAT evening ladies!!!!!

I haven't lost anything this month. Son was home, 2 daughters moved to separate place etc. Really busy. My son wanted all of his favorites while he was here. ( all bad things). He lives in Japan and his wife is Japanese so he gets mostly Japanese food. It would suit me fine. I joined a gym on Monday and met with a personal trainer today and I have a workout planned for me. I did it today and will see how I feel tomorrow. I did their thirty minute circuit on Monday and wasn't sore the next day. I was surprised at that. I am down 40 pounds but have been stuck there for ages. Probably because I don't behave. I am trying to cut my carbs and sweets. Increasing my protein.

I hear ya' Mean - if I cut carbs and sweets I feel so much better, and I seem to sleep better too!! And the protein helps keep me going.

I don't understand why you name is "meanmom" if you cooked all your sons favorite dishes while he was home. Sounds like "AWESOME" mom to me

I got the name meanmom years ago when my kids were little. Whenever they would tell me I was mean because I wouldn't let them do something I would tell then I learned it at meanmom school. I became a family joke. My sister and sister in law would tell their kids the same thing. When I made my email address years ago we used it kinda as a joke. Now I am kinda stuck with it because I don't want to change my email.
