Pat, that's a long 30 seconds! Are you doing regular planks or low ones? How will the winner be determined? Longest hold or most repetitions of 2 minutes? You are amazing, riding that far, then canning tomatoes. Send some of your energy this way.

I have to have my picture taken for church this evening and I have no idea what to wear. Just anything I grab, I guess.

I go out of my way to NOT be a whiner, but somedays I just get overwhelmed. This has been the summer from hell for my family.

There is the on-going challenge for my son, his treatment program, and his student status.

My parents, in their 80's, have been fighting with Sears since June to repair their a/c. I think the jerks who keep stringing them along should try to sleep for 3 months in the Texas heat without air.

My daughter has extreme plumbing issues - has not had water for 3 weeks and now is forced to find a new place to live, all the while her 'ailing' (lazy, worthless) father is telling her how wrong she is for choosing her family (her husband, son, and 3 daughters) over him.

Then this morning, I learned that my 17 yr old nephew tried to commit suicide, again. For five years he has been treated for extreme depression after his first suicide attempt. When my son started having issues, I understood what my brother was going through with the fear and watching him every minute. My son has never been suicidal, but there were times he acted so strange that it scared the crap out of me.

Sadly, the only thing I can do is pray and wait. This is so exhausting.

I didn't print out the details of the plank challenge but basicaly you start out with a 20 second plank for a couple of days. No rules on how many you do. You increase your time by 10 to 15 seconds every few days until you work up to a 2 minute plank at the end of 28 days. Not sure if I will ever make the 2 minute one. I did 2 30 second ones in the morning and 2 more in the evening. I have no abdominal muscles so I will have to take it slowly. It said to do them how eer you can that you need to make sure you keep your body straight. I do mine on my elbows mostly because it bothers my wrists but you don't work your arms as well that way. A plank is supposed to work so many muscles at once.
WOw Leann you have a lot going on. I will pray for things to get better.

For Leann;
Dear If it doesn't kill me, it makes me stronger,
Thank you, but I'm strong enough.
Sincerely, Leann

I'm sorry you are going through so much. And you have no control those situations over which makes it even harder. Will be praying for you, too.
Judy

Congratulations, Anna. Today is the 6th so there are 25 more days until weigh in. I made some healthy treats that I'm sure would result in a temporary weight loss if I were to eat very many. PB, oatmeal, ground flax seeds, toasted coconut, a little honey, vanilla and, of course, chocolate chips. Not bad, except I don't like flax. I'd use a little more honey, but these were made for a friend who watches his sugar carefully. Luckily, I only kept two, so no harm done.

Pat, I can do both a low plank and a high plank - I actually find the high easier, but my shoulder won't let me transition between the two. No Chaturanga in yoga for me yet.

I have gained the last 2 days. Not sure how? I ate a taco salad yesterday that did not agree with my stomach at all. Not sure how that can make me gain?
I finished canning tomatoes today. I made 8 pints of whole tomatoes yesterday, 7 quarts and 7 pints of juice today. We were supposed to go to my brothers lake house for the weekend but had to cancel at the last minute. So now I also have a gluten free raspberry pie staring at me and begging me to eat it.
I has rained all day here. I went out this afternoon and it was pouring and foggy, yuck! Usually by now all of our grass is dead unless we water it. No watering this year. It just keeps raining. We almost never have to cut our grass in July and have been cutting it more than once a week. Weird summer.

Wanted to drop a hello before heading out for physical therapy. I've not been doing any on my own, so gotta change that today. I have to be making a smidgen of progress. The last pain pill I took yesterday was @ 4pm. Since I couldn't remember when my last dose was, I didn't take another before bed. (I usually write it down, but didn't yesterday for some reason) Anyway, I slept thru the night without pain. Definitely had pain when I woke. But I am pleased.

Thank you Judy - you are spot on target. All I can do is sit back and watch. I've also heard that phrase with the addition of "I wish You didn't think me so strong." I learned this morning that DD & hubby have decided to move into their own place. They were coerced into moving in with her dad almost 3 years ago - the man needs a keeper and it was just easier for her to be there to make sure he took his meds, etc. (He is 62), than to continue to exhaust herself with the back & forth. Plus, he had the space and they were expecting babies #3 & 4! To say that things have spiraled downward is too kind - and he pretty much forced her into a position where she had to choose - him or her family. Thank you for your continued prayers. Today she is telling him that they are leaving. It will be a messy conversation.

meanmom, I like the idea of a plank challenge. This is probably something that I can do now that I am getting on the floor & back up on my own. Like Judy, I'm not sure I can transition in the upper & lower positions - but I can try. I wish we had your rain. Not a drop has fallen since June - only triple digits in the forecast. Extreme fire danger.

Anna, I have to say that you are a beast with this losing weight! Congratulations dear lady! You'll be clothes shopping again real soon, won't you? I hope you are buying used since you won't wear a new garment long enough to show ANY wear. You are such an inspiration!

I am down a couple of pounds for the month so far. I am at my lowest weight in 2 years - and that was after my medical scare and hysterectomy. During my June hospital stays, I cut way back on what I ate and I've been trying to continue that at home. I also try to limit my soda to 2 a day, but that is creeping back up. Anybody up for a challenge?
For me, I wanna go the weekend without ANY soda. (I don't drink diet) For you, it may be something like nothing to eat after xx PM. I also need to drink water. Many days, it's only soda, tea, or coffee. Not good.

Leann, there's no reason you have transition from high plank to low plank - they are two separate exercises. Even Sun Salutations in yoga has modifications. I am pleased enough to have regained the use of my shoulders after having two frozen shoulders after a torn rotator cuff that I accept a few limitations.

Tow dogs under my feet. Michigan sold some nasty fireworks and people are still shooting them off. Last night were big ones - we had to cut our walk short. I needed that walk. I was very sad for some reason and needed the lake and a pretty sunset. Oh, well, such is life.

Leann, good luck on your soda fast. That stuff is not a healthy option. I know it was a factor in my bone loss to osteoporosis and I only drank one a day. What can I give up? Not sugar - I have a family reunion tomorrow. How 'bout adding instead? I will drink more water and add lemon, cucumber and ginger to make it cleansing. I'm not a fan of cucumber so it will be something I consciously do for my health.

What to take to the reunion that can travel 3 hours? I have a new recipe for a zucchini/corn salad. That and a batch of cookies may do. There were too many creamy desserts and too much potato salad last year.

I AM getting healthier and losing weight.
