Default Bernina machine

Hello all,
I wanted to see if there are any Bernina machine users here for a software question. I can't afford to buy the brand new software. Could not afford the brand new machine. My questions is there is a lady selling a Bernina Editor Plus Embroidery Software Version 6 but it is actually Version 5 that has been updated to 6. She has a version 5 dongle and a update 6 dongle. Will that work on my computer? I have read that once you upgrade the dongle is dead. But does it mean the update dongle is dead? Or does it mean the 5 is dead and mow you have to use the 6? Also some confusion on after it is updated the dongle can't be used on another machine. I just don't want to buy some software that I can't use.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

I'd call a Bernina dealer. I know that for 5D pro I can have it on two machines at a time. If I want to put it on a 3rd I have to unregister it on one of the other two. As far as the dongles you really should hear it from Bernina as to what the policy is. I doubt it that she can keep one and sale the other because you get a discount on the upgrade. I'd either contact Bernina or a dealer that specializes in it. Be careful with this; it's alot of money if you can't use it. I'd then take my laptop with me and try the installation at her house or get some kind of money back if you can't install it. I had to do that with a card reader that should have been able to work on my pc; it didn't so the LQS refunded my money.

Or if you prefer not to call the local Bernina dealer, you can go to their website and pose a question to their tech dept. and they will answer. They are very good at helping.
