I made one for my daughter several years ago out of fleece. It was far from perfect, but she wore it a lot (she was very young). I'd suggest a practice run with muslin or something inexpensive that you don't care about. I learned a lot from doing the first one but never got around to doing another...

That's really down to earth & basic.

Janallyn - if this is similar to your pattern, you could pin baste it to see if it works. If it does then sew it.

arkro girl, that is more or less the way the book says it is made, the difference in the book is that the neck is square, more like a traditional japanese kimino, and then a long strip, almost like a sashing is around the neck, so the back of the neck stand up, but it is fun, now i a thinking about cutting. one thing i liked was the fact that you could applicay (gosh i cannot spell that), i have a lot of hoffman butterfly and peacock feather prints, had them for years, and that was my plan, butterfly, with the feathers behind on a solid intense colored background or black in between, anyway, did not mean to take over the post,
edited due to spelling and grammar, ha, still cannot get it right

ha ha, i am on this forum and not cutting, such a chicken i am, encourage me please, cut jan cut, "it can always go into your - i will do it later boxes (not unlike the christmas skirt i started 15 years ago for my daughter, who now only paints a christmas tree on her wall, and repaints it after christmas, she may have a good point), ah the joy of youth (she is thirty, but i feel as if i should by into the company that makes kiltz)
