I may be offered ajob in the south bronx but would not live their. i am considering far rockaway or someplace north of the bronx that offers reasonable priced public transportation. suggestions and information would be appreciated. i moved away from the nyc area many years ago and know nothing about the bronx thank you

Be patient, someone from there will show up and give an answer.
Better to do something imperfectly, than nothing perfectly.
    Done is better than perfect.

I have been working in FR for the past 37 years.. It is way too long of a trip to the Bronx. The subway runs all the time so transportation is not a problem. It might be a 1 1/2 hour commute. I live in the Woodmere which is fifteen minutes away. There is a plus to living in FR if you like the beach.

I would say look at the hudson river valley such as Tarrytown, Yonkers, Sleepy Hollow etc.

I was born in the Bronx some many years ago. My sister lives there and loves it. I think it is crowded but she thinks it is perfect. You might just love it. Transportation appears to be frequent and crowded. Lots of trains and buses at all hours of the day and night.
