3580 miles round trip, to Santa Fe. We arrived back home this afternoon, Wed 28th. Unpacking. Settling back in. Whew! Too much driving.

Yikes! That IS too much driving. I bet that has the travelin' bug out of your system for awhile.

My sister just left. They have traveled 4,500 miles and still have to go home to Calif. Too many miles for me.

Welcome home to you and yours. I am a person who loves driving so this sounds like an awesome trip (smile). I am sure taking a trip with your special soul mate and seeing things of beauty was great fun albeit tiring!! Time to get busy with quilting and wood working. Looking forward to all of your pics.

This was the first "long" trip I have taken for about 13 years. It was almost more than I could handle. We have both come to the conclusion, that driving that amount of distance, is more than we want to do in the future. So therefore, we are going to use the train next summer to go out to California and back to spend some time with my brothers and sisters for a few weeks, and then come back home in style; sitting in the observation car and viewing the scenery. We have gone across the country a couple of times many years ago, and it was nice. But,we are going to reserve a private room, this time, rather than the sleeper car we took the other times. That was something that was ok when you are 30 years old, but not at 70. We did have fun out in Santa Fe and loved the quiet of staying in a lovely Adobe style house in the hills above Santa Fe. But now it is time to get back to work. I bought a couple of books on Navajo Weaving and they have inspired me for some designs, for some bags. We shall see how that works out.

Tired or not--it will be a trip you remember. Time passes, and we rest...then it is a happy recollection.

It's always nice to get home. We find long trips more tiring these days. The body doesn't travel as well as when we were in our 20s and 30s.
John I've been reading your posts and am amazed at how much beautiful quilting and woodwork you have done. I just have one maybe two questions. Are your hands ever still and do you sleep?
