please. I found it among my DMIL's stuff that we are going through after her passing last month. She knitted and crocheted but didn't really sew much. I'm so curious. It's 6" long, the handle is plastic, the top part is metal (like crochet hook material) and has a large "eye" in it. There is wire wound round abot 3/4" down from top of handle with a little circle out to the side and then a plastic thing half way down the top part. Ideas please.

I don't think so - I have one of those and there is no "hook" on this thing.

I'm pretty sure it is a punch rug-making tool. I did punch embroidery for a time and it's just a bigger version of the punch needle. Latch hooks have a hooked end with a latch closure for knotting the rug wool on the backing...this one punches through the hessian or whatever.

Wow I've done latch hook and needle puch but have never seen anything like that.
