Free patterns abound on the internet. Type in "Free Casserole cover patterns" and choose what you like.

This one uses dowels but I am sure you can substitute wooden spoons

I made a carrier just like you described and it was a free pattern from Nancy's Notions. Her web site might still have the pattern listed. Good luck LuAnn

My pattern is very similar to this with the exception that it doesn't use velcro ( to me that is just more measuring, accurate placement and sewing) my pattern uses grograin ribbon to tie the sides together so they stay in place. Much quicker assembly with the ribbon, and cheaper too.
peace

I finished the casserole carrier, something similar to the Indygojunction pattern but instead of ribbon to tie the utensils in I used elastic 2 small pieces on one side for skinny handles & 2 abit bigger for bigger sized handles. I am including a pair of potholders, a 2 handed potholder, hotpad, and a set of oven hanger towels all made to match. Along with a cake pan and fundraiser cookbook(I love including them in shower gift. Thanks for the help finding the pattern.
