Okay, so years ago at a Quilt Show, one of the vendors had these chairs redone with silk ties. I've always kept it in the back of my mind. Well, the thrift store got in this chair and it was listed for $8 and I passed on it. About 5-6 weeks later when I returned to do my normal thrift store shopping, the chair was still there for 50% off. Now we are talking. So I got it and 12 silk ties. Here's how mine turned out. My mom is drooling over it and will likely steal it next time she visits. I suspect she'll leave me some beat up chairs and silk ties that she's scavenged from garage sales.

Well, I couldn't really find directions. There are a few websites of other people's before and after pics. I just jumped in and gave it a try. I've got a few adjustments I want to make before doing my next one. Just need to find a new chair . . .

Here is another interesting tutorial on silk tie chair bottoms. I think I would machine sew though and not hand sew. http://gadorawilder.com/2009/09/20/m...-chair-how-to/
