I could not believe my eyes….THE DEAR JANE QUILT….

This was prior to my brain surgery and the demise of my color vision….and brainpower, ha ha!

We all know the original is a pure work of art and intellect….the contemporaries are striking….

Don’t you think, we ought to have a movie about the DJ???? Yes or no….

When I first heard about the DJ quilt, my first question(s) was…..

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT, WHILE YOU ARE MAKING THE DJ QUILT?

What is your story, why did you decide to make a DJ….why do you quilt?

You keep it….Do you share it….

What is the journey to making a quilt….?

I bet it is NOT the journey of making the quilt.

But, instead the journey of life and it up and down!!!!!

And that would make one heck of a movie….

Does not matter if you are here in the USA or say in Europe or elsewhere.

The way I see it, there is a common thread….a world thread….but I am lost for words, as I am lost for color vision as well and I need you…..to tell me….

    don’t we need a dj movie….maybe a chocolate dj movie…

did you see that chocolate dj quilt on the board (yummy)

….almost looks like a box of chocolates

Not to steal from another movie, but you never know what you will get with a DJ quilt….

kinda like a box of chocolates…

    you will be surprised!

Talk to me, tell me Is it time for a movie about the wonderful world of us….

I guess it is, The DJ quilt as we all follow the same pattern, but we all pick our own colors and fabric!

Maybe a series of some sort relating to HBO, in example "True Blood" and "Treme".....?

    Possibilities are endless...

I saw the Dear Jane Quilt at the Bennington Vermont Museum. It is a beautiful quilt. I don't know if I would even attempt to make it.

It would be interesting to know why she made it the way she did. Could it be she only had small bits of fabric at a time and slowly the quilt came together. Does she have a diary out there somewhere?

This is my entire reasoning....WHY DO WE QUILT?

Those small bits of fabric are no more than our lives....

Just two months ago our community group gave quilts to the local sheriff to place in the trunks of the squad cars to provide warmth to adult and kids who needed them both innocent and the bad.....

What about the quilt you make....what is the story behind that....the love....the joy....excitement.

Then again....that quilt that goes to the homeless....or a cancer patient....what was the journey of that person....

I just hope this thread is filled with stories everyday....

And we all hear the story that IS THE "MOVIE STORY" THAT IS THE "HUMAN STORY" THAT TOUCHES US ALL....like a cozy warm quilt that has been around for forever.

My first thought when I read this post was about the above mentioned movie. I have the book about the making of the movie as well, I heard the author speak. I even got to touch and love on the quilt that still had the dirt/mud on it when it was dragged through the field. I liked the movie but only saw it once as I felt a little depressed in it. A person sure should read the book that the lady wrote...the lady that headed up the quilt design in the movie. Her story was very fun to hear about.

Regarding the Dear Jane quilt, I am making the Quilted Diamonds quilt which is the Jane blocks stretched into diamonds. I have many more to go but after I completed each diamond, I document in my pattern book where I was, how long it took and what was going on in the world that day that I made that block. Someday I hope to finish and it will be a nice heirloom for someone, hopefully. I need to get back on it..asap!

This is where the movie should/could possibly go....you are onto something here....

*****what was going on in the world that day that I made that block.*****

You see maybe a cable station like HGTV or Bravo or Lifetime would consider a movie based on purely the Dear Jane Quilt....BUT ALL OF HOLLYWOOD WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THE DEAR JANE QUILT if it had the ultimate human thread that crosses all time era and places...

Please keep this post alive...as my train of thought is not well and I need help to express what I am trying to convey.

The DJ quilt must be shown to the world....

The love, passion and care that goes into making a quilt must be shown to the world....

And most importantly the people who get the quilts

And why they get them must be shown to the world...

As we know so many get them for a variety of reasons, from sheer happiness to sorrow sadness....Our quilts have such memories.
