I have never done either but I think I would prefer a retreat. I feel like there are too many distractions on a cruise to get much sewing done.

Weekly free casual sit n sews at an LQS or an occasional structured hands on class at a fee to learn something new or different

This past summer I took a class with a large( I thought) fee but looking back on it I did learn a lot and am using a lot more stitches and feet on my machine then ever so it was worth it.

I also belong to a weekly group and that is fun but not learning much.

usually straight of grain ..... easier to make and since I fold fabric, it wears well.

another binding choice: matching fabric in quilt or contrasting ?
