We have been couponing for 10+ years. Within the last yr or so my husband began to complain ,"all the coupons and sale items are junk food or high in fat/sodium and expire within a month" .We are going to get a walmart supercenter next spring. Maybe that will wake up the other food stores in my neighborhood. The food stores play these dumb games .Why don't they put that money into lower prices on good healthy food?

Have been doing it for ages. Saves tons of money. However things have changed drastically in couponland. Most coupons these days are for convenience things like Hamburger helper and things I don't use. They also have such short expiration dates. We do double coupons here, so that helps considerably. But using less and less coupons, down to 1 or 2 per trip as opposed to handsful.

We coupon only what we normally use. A lot of them are for multiple items of the same thing and the savings aren't really worth it since there are only two of us. $1.00 for four boxes of cereal.... duh... really aggravates hubby and daughter as she also coupons.

BJ coupons are the only ones I use, also. They're usually for cereal or paper goods, things with a long shelf life.

Here in Michigan, we must be lucky (at least in a couponing sense). I generally shop at Meijer and Target (and some WalMart). Meijer always doubles up to .50, and Target often has store coupons that can be combined with manufacturers coupons. Yesterday I bought two bottles of Dove shampoo and two packages of Q-Tips (real Q-Tips). After coupons I paid $9.00 and received a $5 Target gift card for my next shopping trip. I am no extreme couponer--I actually think they've made the rest of couponers look bad. No massive stockpiles here . . . just what we need and will use (otherwise it's donated or passed on to friends and family).

I don't see stocking up on items like cleaning supplies, toilet paper etc. If you take that amount of money stacked on your shelves and put it away for that rainy day in a intrest baring account you really are making money..

With her method you only clip the coupons you are going to use for that week. Her website (on monday) lists the stores in our area (IL) and the best prices and coupons to use for that week. The coupon inserts are saved uncut and the date written on top. Go to her website and on the right you will see the deals of the week, she does all the work. She tells you which store and which coupons flyer to cut them out of. Can't be as good as Extreme couponing, because our stores don't double. If you are a brand name buyer and these coupons are not for your brand names, it is a great way to help out the local food pantry.

we only use coupons for items we use. If there's a GOOD coupon for new item we MAY buy it. DH does the shopping and loves telling me how much he saved on items.

Don't forget JoAnns coupons. Uses those all the time too!

We shop about once a week, and between the store's specials, coupons and a few regular coupons we save at least $10 or more per trip, not bad for just the 2 of us. I also shop at local farm market. This week pears and apples are 99 cents per pd, 1.49 and up at all the supermarkets. They also have best, freshest and cheapest eggs, their meats and cold cuts are bit high but excellent quality so I buy when they have a good sale. I use local throwway papers and flyers to check out prices everywhere to save. Hate it but sometimes I pay full price, this week we're down to last canister of coffee and no coupons or sales anywhere. I just bought one big coffee canister and hope there are coupons in this weeks papers and a sale really soon. Don't you just love it when you can combine your coupon with a sale?


I'm lucky to have several big supermarkets nearby. Right now I'm shopping mostly at Pathmark as it's closer to me and has the most items that I use. In a few weeks I'll have enough points for a free turkey or spiral ham, that's good because I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year. I've never been disappointed it the quality of the ham or turkey they provide.

Don't shop much at Costco any longer and am thinking of not renewing my card as their fee has gone up to over $53. Did save about $35 on an item last month (sale plus their coupon) and I do love their roasted chickens, they are so tasty and for $5 I can get 2 meals from one chicken and maybe a sandwhich.

You know it never ends, I've been food shopping since I've been about 8 years old and at age 75 I'm tired of it, just wish I was tired of eating and it would solve most of my money problems, LOL!

I spend so much more and get stuff I don't want or need because I have a coupon than when I don't . I buy what I want, not what i have a coupon for and I keep everything ( money AND stuff) under control. Just like with bulk buying. I don't have room to store 24 rolls of paper towels or a 5 lb. Jar of peanut butter, so I don't buy it even though it may be a few cents cheaper.
