Hope it's OK to post this in this Section. Just found out my DGD won her Scholarship for the local College Jazz Band. She has applications in for several other Scholarships, but this one is the most important to her. She's a Senior, fixing to graduate, been in Band since 5th Grade, & Low Brass Section Leader since 10th Grade. I'm so proud of her. My Son was also in the same Jazz Band, so that's very important to him that she made it. She has been performing in the Community Jazz Band there, also.

Excellent! With the cost of college, all scholarships are GREAT!

Yes, it's esp nice to see her get this, as I'm her only living grandparent. My DILs parents were deceased before her & my Son married & my Ex passed Dec 09, so that just leaves me. She has wanted to give up at times, but everyone has encouraged her to keep going & she's glad she did now. They just moved to the same city as the college, so she'll get to stay at home (college is 5-6 blocks from their house now). She can transfer to two different 4 yr schools in AL, when she finishes here & be a Satellite Student. She's a Daddy's girl, so this will give her a slower transition into her adult life than students, who go to larger schools. I'm really proud of her. Thanks everyone.
