I am giving my first bridal shower. I am making those snap bags as a party favor. I am thinking of putting something inside. but my first question is, does the date on the favor represent the wedding date or that of the shower and the second is, if I am not giving a sit down lunch, when is it right to give the favor bags out?

Thanks you guys

Not sure - but I would say the shower date if it's shower related...like just the bride's name on it. Wedding date if it has both bride and groom.....but I could be wrong.

As far as when to pass them out....I've never been to a shower where we didn't sit down the entire time - before the meal, during the meal, while opening gifts, and even afterwards to visit, etc. Do your guest stand the whole time?

Most of the bridal showers in my area aren't sit down luncheons. We watch the bride open gifts. Sometimes we play a game or two first. Then we have nice finger foods, cake, and punch for refreshments. I would give out the favors at the end.

Same here. You could put them in a bowl or basket by the refreshments.

I did purse sized tissue holders for a shower. Placed one at each place at the table.

The very formal and over the top as far as the venue bridal showers I have been to, there were no party favor gifts at these. Dull and boring affairs but excellent food. The fun bridal showers had cute little party favors for the guests. I would suggest putting the bags in a pretty basket and remind everyone to take one before leaving.

I think it depends on the time, place, and crowd.

I think I would leave the date off the favors - I prefer most things undated - but that's just me

Maybe you could have them on the lunch table and each guest could pick it up then?

Or hand them out during the first game? (If you play games at the shower)

If they are different colors, the guests could play "the dice game" to select one - at the end, if anyone has more than one, she can keep the one she likes best, and put the rest "back in the pot" for the ones that didn't get one.

The date should reflect that of the bridal shower, but I, personally, don't care for "dated" items. I think you can eliminate that. I would put the favors in a nice basket and remind each guest as they are leaving to take one.

You need to put the shower date. Since it isn't a sit down lunch, then provide a decorative container near the doorway and remind your guests to pick up their favor as they leave. You could even tell the guests right before the bride starts opening her gifts, that you have provided each of them a take home favor that they may pick up by the door (or where ever you have put them) on their way out.

Formal shower...at a hall or such... put next to place setting...

Informal...at a home...place in a big bowl or on a nice tray near the exit door. Place a reminder note on the door jamb.
