Default Does anyone know what this is?

My LQS is offering a discount in honor of St. Patrick's Day if we can name this item...exact name. There's a ruler I've been wanting to buy for a long time!
I've searched all over the Internet and can't find anything. I'm assuming it's sewing related, but maybe not? I know that someone on this wonderful board will be able to help! Thanks ahead of time for your help!

No idea but I am assuming it is sewing related. If the little knob fits a spool of thread, you could put it on top of the spool, thread your needle up through the slit and snap the needle into the slit on top top?

Tartan, that's what I was thinking too. I've googled everything I can think of but no luck. My LQS is always a lot of fun, and who knows what trick they have up their sleeve for St. Pat's day? The offer is only good for today, so I might have to wait for my ruler! Especially when I have to have the exact name!!!!

No idea here. What Tartan said makes sense.

I think it is a spool thread saver also. Looks like you can pull thread up through the slit and hold it in the grove on top. Put since the fabric weave looks so large maybe a bobbin keeper.

I tho't of laying a 'self threading' needle in the slot on top and bringing the thread up, across the slot and popping into the needle eye? I hope you get your ruler!

WOW! This is what they do on a PBS show called Ask This Old House. Very seldom could I guess what it was. It has to be something sewing related. Good Luck. Be sure to check the photos when you Google the name of this item.

Is is something that grips a ruler? I have a bowl lid out of a similar looking material and it grips great.
