Didn't do too well - anyone want to go for a ride? Average score.

Okay, I'll confess I flunked miserably. I learned from it, though!

Honestly, I've never seen some of this stuff.

I had no idea there was a distance for following a first truck at. I've never been in a position to follow one (isn't this rule really for ambulance-chasing lawyers?), and I would apply the rule of thumb to stay out of their way anyway. How far away is 500 feet anyway?

I don't feel that knowing the single biggest contributor to accidents or the % due to alcohol will make me a better driver. I know not to do those things; IMO, that's much more important.

The school zone speed was news to me. Some schools have flashers telling drivers to go 15 mph when they're on, but when they're not, I have never seen anyone go anything but the post speed limit for the road (30 mph, 40 mph). No one ever slows to that speed within the marked school zone.

And I thought pedestrians always, always had right of way. I mean, consider the outcome if one is in your way and you have the right of way and you decide to insist on it...

I passed the road signs test, though I can't say I did all that well on it, either. HM? No, I've never seen anything about an HM sign.

Thanks for posting this. It is helpful to know these things.

I also thought pedestrians always have the right of way.
I think I will continue NOT running over them. :D

Just noticed a typo on my first post here. That should have been "fire truck," not "first truck."

Well, I drove through a school zone today and noticed that, as I approached it, there was a sign saying SPEED LIMIT 35. In the middle of the school zone, another sign said SPEED LIMIT 45. There was also a flasher light, which goes on at certain times, and when it's on, the speed limit is 15 mph until you reach the End School Zone sign. To, it's pretty clear that they aren't expecting you to go 20 mph there, not when there are two speed limit signs with much higher limits.

So that made me take another look at the website giving the test. Lo, and behold, it's not an official governmental or regulatory organization. It started as some guy's blog. The guy, Marcus Jain, lives in Port Angeles, Washington. Maybe these are the laws for his state. Gee, who do we know that lives in Port Angeles? Beverly, have you heard of this guy?

I'm not saying he or his group is a fraud, just that they're not official and maybe don't have all their facts checked.

I must be one of them crazy California drivers. IMHO I only missed the unimportant ones. Why would I need to know that 40% of accidents involve alcohol as long as I don't drink and drive?

LOL, I failed!
But I did remember what the officer said when he pulled me over in the school zone. So, I did get that one right.
