When my Dad was in his 70's he had an operation on his left eyelid to keep it from covering his eye. His face bruised something awful.

Now I'm experiencing the same thing. My left eyelid wants to fall over my left eye. I feel as if I need a clothes pin to keep it in place. Anyone else have trouble like this?

My husband had this in both his eyes. His ophthalmologist performed surgery on his eyes by removing excess eyelid. The surgery went well with a minimum of pain. It’s been about 3 years since he had it done and his eyelids are perfect. I don’t really know how he saw anything prior to the surgery.

I had that done on both eyes about 17 years ago. The doctor did a field of vision test and it was so bad insurance covered it.

the doctor told me I would bruise but I was determined not to. I kept rotating frozen peas on them for about 3 days and slept sort of sitting up. When I went back for my checkup he was amazed I didn’t bruise.

My husband's surgery was covered by his insurance plan also. At that time, his doctor said he had to lose a certain percentage of his field of vision for the surgery to be considered necessary and not cosmetic.

I had a surgery more than 25 yrs ago to raise my eyelid because my left eye lid drooped related to a stroke. The vision in the eye was good and my stronger eye so they took a section of the eyelid and now I no longer have that problem and my vision is no longer impaired by the drooping eye lid. I was up and seeing out of that eye by the time of my following dr. appt after the surgery. This is a surgery that I closely remember not because of the surgery itself but because my surgeon was murdered the weekend before my surgery. It was put off for two weeks and of course another surgeon did the operation. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and was kidnapped by a stranger. Good news for her family the authorities were able to catch the offenders.
Again the surgery was not a difficult process and I have always been happy with the results.

They have little sticky things to put on your eye lids now as a quick fix. Might be something to look👀 into while waiting for surgery.

i will be having both eyes done in January. I've had 15 previous eye surgeries.
the dr. said upper lids are covered, not lower lids. I can't wait to see how well

I am waiting until April when I turn 65 so I can have that surgery. At present, the dr. I want to use does not take my type of insurance. I know lots of people who have had it. It really does open up your range of vision.

I had to smile at the thought of they would cover the upper but not the bags under the eyes. I had a friend get this procedure done several years ago, she looks so much younger. She looked sleepy all the time with her eyes half closed. Now her open eyes match her personality.

Not sure, but I think I have read that Medicare will pay for plastic surgery on eyelids if they droop to the extent that they block your vision. You may be a candidate for such surgery. Not sure what is required to justify it for Medicare. Good luck!!
