Dusty Porcelain Dolls and Clothes
I brought home two porcelain dolls from my daughters house. The dolls have been in the basement laying on a shelf and have gotten dusty and she is a smoker. What is a safe way to clean the dresses? It is a Mother-Young Daughter set and they are dressed fancy. I am afraid to launder them. I hope someone on the Quilting Board has had the same problem and cleaned their dolls successfully.

Are we talking genuine antiques? If they are then just a vacuum with soft pantyhose over the nozzle may be the best option. If they are not antiques then I would hand wash the clothes if they are cotton. If they are silks and velvet, then you might have to vacuum and hang to air out for the smoke.
