I prefer to use the nook ap (Barnes & Noble E-Reader) on my smart phone. I don't carry a purse and would rather not have to carry around one more thing. I have to flip through more pages than I would on a real E-Reader but a real E-Reader doesn't fit in my pocket. Also, I've all ready paid for my phone so I don't have to buy another gadget & can spend more money on fabric!

The one thing that really irks me about all e-books is the price. Why on earth do I have to pay more than paperback price and in some instances--more than hard cover price for an ebook that I can't even give away! That makes no sense to me. At least I can gather up my paper backs and trade them 2 for 1 at the local book store but e-books, except for Barnes & Noble's "lend me" feature which is still annoying, cost more! I do scarf up any and all free e-books and others that are less than $5 if it's an author or subject that I really enjoy and gets decent reviews.

My DH & I both have Kindles. You can download so many books and there are quite a lot that are free -- go to Pixels of Ink.com and sign up. You get a notice every day of free and/or inexpensive books. Also Kindle will be paring up the librarys very soon. My son works for Amazon so I have a little inside scoop.

Hi ! I've got a Kindle too and I love it, love it, love it! I got one for my daughter first and after seeing what it could do, I had to have one for myself. Nothing will ever replace the feel and smell of a real book, but this gadget lets you carry a whole library and sure takes up a lot less room! Judy in Alabama

I have Nook (b&w, not color). I love it! I can share some books with a friend (you can share a book once) and I am able to *borrow* e-books from my public library. I highly suggest an e-reader of any kind...I love being able to take it with me when I travel istead of lugging books with me. As far as my Nook goes, I am very happy with it.

I have an IPad and love it. I use IBooks and Kindle. I bought my mom a Kindle for Christmas and set it up as mine with my password and all, so when I buy a book or download a free book I can also put it on her Kindle, only one charge.

As mentioned before, check with your library. Our lirary service does not currently support Kindle, but will by the end of the year.

At our library you digitally check the book out and it vanishes from your e-reader after 14 days. Typically you can renew it 2 times.

One thing to note is that the kindle ( which I have and LOVE) is e-ink...meaning, it's not backlit. This means, that while you need a light of some sort to read in the dark, you can also read on this device outdoors. From what I understand, most of the others are like my cell phone...go into the sunshine and you can't see the screen.
