Am starting the 17 Day Diet tomorrow. In the book it calls for kefir (it is similar to drinking style yogurt great for making smoothies). Does anyone know where I can buy this? I have checked walmart where they keep yogurts but not sure where in the store it is located. And also can you get flaxseed oil at walmart or any of the grocery stores? I seen a while back that walmart had the flaxseed but haven't seen the oil.

Where we live, you would find these items at a store like Whole Foods. We also have Sprouts and Sunflower Markets that carry them. (These are local chains.) Try looking at a "health food" store.

You can buy the start on ebay. I grow it and Kombucha. The start of the Kefir looks like a really big clump of cottage cheese. I can put it in a pint or quart of milk straight from the fridge, and set it in a warm place. Tomorrow I'll have what tastes sorta like Buttermilk. I'll then strain it and keep the big piece that goes into another pint of milk, put the rest of it in the fridge because I like it cold. By lunch it'll be nice and cold for my taste.
It's teeming with probiotics and tastes great.

I grow Kombucha I brew from what is called a Scoby, looks like a waxy pancake, put it into sweetened tea, a splash of vinegar and let it ferment for a few days.
Check it out on the Internet. This is also teeming with Probiotics, and it tastes good. Records go back hundreds and possibly thousands of years, so it isn't a new invention.

Do you have a Whole Foods?? Pricey but great store. Maybe Kroger would have it too. We find Kefir at several stores here. Good stuff.

When I needed flax oil, I purchased the pills (from the vitamin aisle) and cut them open and squeezed out the oil.

My husband and I drink Water Kefir everyday. I ordered it online and started with 4 tablespoons (enough for 1 quart) and in about 2 weeks into making it I have 20 tablespoons (enough for 4 quarts. I gave my neighbor some to start them off and still have some to share. PM me your address and I can send you some and the directions for making it. I add just a little grape juice to mine and it taste great.

I use milk Kefir, had some of the water crystals but had visitors who were helping clean up the kitchen after dinner and tossed out those "yucky little things" without asking first. Haven't gotten any more yet. They are fascinating things to grow/ferment.

The flaxseed oil I need is to put on salads if I don't want to use olive oil.

I don't know about the oil, but I suggest to those with bad "blocking" that they use Flax Seed for it instead of any other laxative on the market.
