I have a Brother SE270D. Bought used off Ebay for $210 including shipping. Glad I didn't spend a lot, I rarely use the embroidery function.

I have my late MIL's Viking Rose. I very rarely use it because it is not, in my mind, user 'friendly'. I intend to upgrade to an embroidery machine that uses a memory stick to move designs from computer to machine. I think I will enjoy the fact that one can be a bit more creative. My machine has a very small 'hoop' area, also. A new machine will be my treat when our youngest DD graduates college next spring.

I learned to do free motion embroidery back in the '80s, so I have not purchased an embroidery machine. The FM embroidery made it easy to learn FM quilting.
