I remember WAY back in the 60's - practicing for first communion, the nuns used a paper wafer -same one for everyone in line --yucckkk.

As I said earlier thank you for explaining. I learned something I did not know.

I vaguely remeber my communion. First we had to go to confession and even at my tender age of 9, I couldn't understand WHY I needed to talk to the priest about my "sins" If this god is all-knowing, the visit with the priest was so unnecessary. Plus, I decided that it was none of the priest's business what I had done. So as a result, I invented a bunch of bad things I supposedly did. Ah yes, my downward spiral started early - lol.

Thank you for clarifying "what's so special about having the 1st communion in the spring".

Oh the memories, am I the only one afraid that I was going to bite the priest hand? I remember when we baptized my little sister at the age of 7 she told my brother also being baptized to not allow the priest to touch him with "that dirty water". The things kids say, lol

Still not sure why on the timing on receiving communion, BUT the story was cute & funny.

Not offended over the explanation of beliefs.
