I figure that the Mayans made a perpetual calender. They had the date 12/21/12 as the last day of the calendar and you just restated at the beginning again. Sometimes the simplest explaination is the right one.

Just saw a cartoon that shows two Mayans, one says the tequila is ready and asks if the other one wants some.
The second one says okay, I'm working on this calendar but I guess it won't be the end of the world if I don't
finish it. LOL.
