Wink "Evil Genius" Mom!

That's what I am, an evil genius. That's what my 7 year old DD called me when I introduced "the tote" to her and my 9 year old DD. I saw a picture of a tote like this yesterday, went out and bought a tote today and now it's sitting underneath my kitchen table, matching my white and red decor.

You are nicer then I was about the kids stuff being left out! At age 6, if the items were left out after bedtime it went in the donate box in the garage. They had to retrieve it before the box was taken to the thrift store or lose it for good. Books, shoes, games, didn't matter it was tossed in the box before I went to bed. After age 7 I never had to pick up after my kids again. They could toss it in their room but it had to be out of the living area.

Love your idea, too. I tried something similar, but my kids were just slow learners in that regard, I guess

I did that for years except I made them pay 50 cents an item to get stuff back. All stuff had to be bailed out on the 15th of each month if not before.

I like the 50 cent idea better!! I guess nowadays it would be about a dollar, right??

More money for fabric.....
