I just reactivated my Facebook account and changed my password.
They sent me an email about it and I noticed that they BCCd it to approx 10 other women with my (very common)first and last name!! Of course the BCCs went to their emails, all of which I can see.
So do they know my password and can they see all my other info? (I put everything on "Friend" only. Hopefully only people I "friend" with can see my info???)
Its really bothering me and I think I'm going to close it again.
I just don't think it's really safe.
I've looked for Facebook's Contact link so I can complain but I don't see it.
Have any of you ever gotten an email from them with BCCs to others who just coincidentally have your name?

that might not have been facebook email if they contacted 10 others as well. Always make sure it says http/facebook.com before answering any emails from facebook. I have gotten some thing from facebook that were spammers..

what fidgety said sounds right.

Here is a quick tip - in the email, if there are any links that purport to be to FB, hover the cursor over the link. (Don't click on it). Then look down in the lower left gray area - it will tell you where the link really goes to. For instance, it may say www.facebook.com in the link that you are supposed to click on, but down on the bottom it will be different, like www.facebook.ng or some other weird address.
This will be true for any "phishing email".

Thank you for the info of how to see if links go to where they say they will or not. I never knew that.
When I used your info and checked the link in the email they sent me, it does say it goes to facebook.com.
Just to be even more careful I've changed my birthdate, the city of my birth, all basic info just so nothing will be the same as my bank, credit, tax info etc.
People who I "friend" will know it's me by the photo.
But I think I'm still going to close it.

Never answer an email like that is my motto. Go straight to the source. I did that one time with PayPal...and it was a mess. I didn't know what a scam was. I can't understand why people do things like that. Makes no sense to me. My hub & I went to OKC yesterday and were asked by 4 people for money...do people not have any self respect anymore??

My first name is not that common - last name probably is. When I joined I looked at all with my name and lo and behold, there was some nude gal with my name - at least she was a pretty nude! I did not realize that they allow full frontal nudity. Showed it to my DH and he thought it was very interesting. I too am very careful about what I put on facebook.

You cannot be too careful on Facebook and that is why I never put my Billy Angel's pictures there. I will e-mail to family and I have posted one on here, but that is about it!

I went on Facebook, and after a few days found a picture of a strange woman, whose address was in the town of a woman I wrote to on a health food site. Emailed her and she was shocked, said that only on HER Facebook was her picture shown. So someway FaceBook has contact with MY emails, which I don't like in the least. I'm off that now, I can contact anyone I like by email or phone or letter.

Never click a link in an email...you're suppose to open a new window and type in the facebook link. So many emails look so real, that it's too difficult for us to be able to tell the difference.

I would go change it again, just to be sure.
