Hubby was VERY good about putting the chicken wire 18" underground - no bunnies can get in YAY, all for us, none for bunnies!

Nothing silly about it...nothing beats home-grown goodness.

The lettuce is crispier and the tomatoes taste like sunshine. The cukes are sweet and the pepper delightful. Everything is better homegrown. Peas and beans are ready now as well as lettuce and spinach. We have to wait a bit longer on some of the others yet here in Maine.

Place the cucumbers in a bowl; sprinkle with salt, and refrigerate 24 hours. Rinse and drain the cucumbers, pressing out as much water as possible. Place the cucumbers in a bowl, and stir in the sugar and vinegar. Refrigerate 24 hours more. Place in freezer containers and freeze. I put mine in baggies and try to lay flat in the freezer. Easier to stack.

for every 2 cucumbers; 2 T salt, 1 1/2 c sugar, 1 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar. Come winter time these will be a welcome dish.

Yes, we have a short growing season here in Idaho too and there can be frost clear up until June 15th.
