Good Morning All,
Can Anyone recommend a brand of high quality soft flannel for use in a nightshirt? I'm not concerned about it being fire retardant. Hubby wants "soft".(-:

I would prefer going to a LQS. Flannel usually softens up nicely when washed. If shopping online, stay with a major fabric manufacturer.

Moda has some of the nicest flannel I have ever used. I also like the flannel Maywood Studios puts out.

For super soft PJ's I actually prefer something that has a little give to it (stretchy) so I prefer fleece type products and buy them already made (in the long run cheaper!). But they are super warm in addition to being super soft and comfy.

I agree that Moda flannel is divine. Nice and thick and soft. I would not hesitate to use it for a nightshirt.

I've heard good things about the flannel from Connecting Threads. I haven't used it personally, but I did get to feel some once, and it was very nice.

The Connecting Threads flannel is superb! Very nice fuzzy feeling and thick too - but it does need to be pre-shrunk before sewing a garment with it.

I just made a quilt using flannel as the backing. I purchased the flannel at Joann's ($5.99 a yard with 50% off) Washed and dried it twice and it is so soft on the quit.

I would think any of the top quality brands would soften up nicely when washed.

wash it a few times, keep away from red, b/c it seems to continue to bleed after a lot of washings.
