Default Fleece car blanket

I want to make a fleece car blanket. I was wondering what size to make it. Also have you ever made a single layer fleece blanket. If so, how did you finish the edges? Suggestions please. I am going to include it in a raffle basket.

I don't know about size but 1-1/2 yards makes a decent lap blanket. I made some for my car. I just turned the ends back and sewed them together at the edges. Makes a nice cheap blanket. I have a Sweet 16 so some of them I put batting in and meander quilted them together. You can't get any warmer than that.

On my single layer fleece, I used coordinating yarn (worsted weight) and blanket stitched around the edges.

I make single layer fleece for the grandkids. I fold it under and blanket stitch it. Makes a nice edge and is easy to do.
Have fun.

I serge mine because I don't like the string ties.

Here's what I do and the family loves them. I buy two different fleeces, usually a print and a coordinating plain back. I get about 1-1/2 yards, sometimes a bit more for tall people. I lay them wrong sides together and do the tie thing. But for baby quilts, I sew around all sides with a straight stitch, in about an inch. Then I go around about 1/4 inch from the stitches with a scalloped rotary cutter. You could do that for a larger one to instead of cutting the strips and tying. This takes less than an hour and the cozy factor is a 10. In the winter, I put one over my lap while driving (because I have heated seats which result in nice hot buns).

It is a good idea to keep blankets in the car. We keep two in each truck, along with emergency packs.
In those packs are a couple of pairs of socks for each of us, some gloves, long johns and first aid kits.

We live near the mountains and if we were to break down during the winter months. We could stay warm until helps arrives. Also the cell phone is in my purse for emergencies.

The blankets we have in the trucks are twin size made from a fleece material.
