I wanted to wear flip-flops but just couldn't make it work, so decided to try Dr. Scholls at walmart. they are fabric lined and cushy, and I haven't worn anything else since. I can't stand to have my toes encased. they were on sale for about 13 dollars and I got them..decided it was worth it to try. and I love them. I think the addidas and nike brand are good too. will have to check macys online. I am 66 and hope I never have to wear reg shoes again.....not very realastic...we do get blizzards.lol

Katia has very good advice!!! I cannot wear the cheap flip-flops for many of the reasons mentioned, however, I do have some aerosoles brand, some addidas, and some jelly type ones I bought at Coldwater Creek several years ago that I wear all the time!!!

I will also say that I only wear my flip-flops at home and when I go to the store, etc. I do not feel they are appropriate or professionally acceptable. For instance, I would not wear them to school (I teach K) except on specially designated days like...beach day or (yes) flip-flop day. I do wear sandals to school but never the flip-flop style.

flip flops take some getting used to even when made correctly. besides, they used to be called thongs!!!
Yes they did, but thongs now are a different meaning...LOL

Love em. I use to go barefoot all the time until the stores started refusing service. Flip-flops are the next best thing to going barefoot.

I buy mens if they're small enough and have cloth straps. Will have to look into the leather ones. Can't stand those cheap ones made with plastic - they hurt!

Had a friend from, Korea who called them zori.

they really are not meant to wear like shoes- all day-
they are kind of for at the beach- camping- when you are taking showers in camp ground showers and don't want to go in bare feet- when you come out of the lake- want to walk up to the car- you slide into them- they are for those (moments) in the summer time- they have no benifits when it comes to foot health- they are simply an easy slip into for a minute foot protector- protecting your feet from (community fungus) gravel roads- ect.
used to be sold as (shower shoes) somewhere along the way people decided they were great for beach/camping wear- from there over the years i bet lots of people have (tried) to wear them as if they were a pair of shoes- but as you found out- they are not- and were never meant to be. hopefully you can use up the 'bunch' you bought.
my granddaughters buy them for $1 a pair at the dollar store- then decorate the straps with fabrics or yarns- they get very creative with them- and they share them with their friends when they go to the beach.
