Just love the comments on this thread! As much as I love the colors on the Old Navy flip flops, they have to go. I wish there was a place to contact Old Navy to tell them how awful this year's model is. My husband found a couple of pairs for me at our local 5 and Dime type store. The top and bottom are one piece, so the sides go around your foot. There is a nice cushy inset for your feet.

We live in a beach town and everyone wears them everywhere. When I worked as Public Relations director for the city, I even wore them to work since I had to go down to the beach often for events. Now I love them because I garden. I keep a dish pan outside the door and fill it with fresh water to clean the mud off my feet and the flip flops.

As a side note, I found the BEST foot cleaner at Michael's! It's like a flip flop for the tub - with suction cups on the bottom. The inside is full of little bristles and it has a pumice stone built into the heel. My feet have never been in better shape. I put a couple of drops of liquid soap into my scrubbing flip flop and voila! Shiny clean feet!

I have the same problem. My daughter loves them and wears them all summer. I think as you get older you tolerate less. I have a pair of the leather ones that are good for toning you up and it took less time to get use to wearing them so I wore them alot last year but the regular flip flops; I don't think so.

I disagree that they are only meant to be beach shoes and cannot be worn as proper shoes. I wear them year long! In fact, I'd say in summer you won't find many people wearing anything else (in Australia) although we do still call them thongs lol. It's become a bit of a joke between me and my friends at university because we can spot the American exchange students because they are the only ones wearing enclosed shoes in summer, and they always seem to be a lot clunkier than Australian shoes. Guess it is just a cultural thing :) I find Havianas are the most popular/comfortable brand.

I don't wear them much at all. The flipping noise drives me crazy...

I love them. Some are more comfortble then others. I have leather ones that are killers but I love the cheap ones. I could walk a mile in them. Some people jsut hate anything between their toes. Maybe it's how your toes are shaped.

My DD lives in them. She has every color of the rainbow. They are pretty much the only shoes she wear all summer. I have always found them terribly uncomfortable. I have other sandals I wear that go between my toes that I can wear but not the cheap flip flops.
