I haven't been here in quite a while after my computer crashed and lost all my bookmarked sites. Looking for this site seemed to be a difficult task as there were pages and pages of quilting sites according to Google. I finally decided to tackle it today, clicking on two pages of quilting sites looking for the familiar yellow site. Then I realized that maybe the site's design had been changed so I went back and started at the beginning. I thought I would just put in my user name and password and the right one would let me in. Surprise, surprise, the first one I tried was the one.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back. As to what I've been doing while I was away. I made four quilt tops and published two more novels. Now I have to buckle down and finish up the quilts. Since my family doesn't need any more, I thought I'd donate them for fundraisers. I did that with a few of my books though I don't know how much was raised. Still, I helped someone and made myself feel good.

What does everyone else do with their quilts when they have more than they or their family needs?

Glad you found us again, Joyce. Congrats on your two novels, hope you write many more if that is your desire!

As to what I do with excess quilts....I've never had that problem. I make them for my large family (5 kids, 14 GK, 8 GGK and two more new ones on the way soon. If there are any left I donate them...to our homeless shelters, women's care centers, Quilts for Kids, the Neonatal unit at one of our hospitals...there's a million places where they're needed...so DON'T STOP!!!! And right now, our friends in the Northeast need them as well....

All this in addition to keeping up with my business in LA quilting...so I stay out of trouble, pretty much...

Favorite Fabrics

There are lots of charities - both domestic and international - which are always in need of quilts.

As for myself, I'm working on a stack-and-whack right now that will be in a charity auction to raise funds for the Christian school that my daughter attends. After that, it will be quilts for world relief (just basic ones for that).

Thanks for your ideas. So I guess I'm on the right track in donating them for fundraisers. My grandsons go to a small Christian school and they're always trying to raise money.

Welcome back. I have given many to quilts to family, friends and people I don't know, and to thank a few for things they have done for us and refused payment. Now I am just making quilts I want to make and trying to use up some fabrics. I will decide what to do with them later.

Welcome back! As for extra quilts - I usually use scraps and sometimes buy from the Board fabric that is reasonably priced and usually stick to baby and lap quilts, because they are easier to quilt. A near-by church gives them out to people in need, so they stay in the area - thus - no postage.

Display them!! Rotate them on the sofa, bed, and walls.
I also make many 'community quilts' with our guild group.
