Default Time it take to change mailing address

We change our address from PO Box to our physical address and it took me hours and hours to call or online change all. The worst was Social Security. I was on hold for over an hour. Glad it is all done.

That sounds like a thankless job! I'm glad you got thru all that and now can do some great quilting!

I had to go to the SS office today. I spent 2 hours there. One and a half waiting to be called 30 minutes at the window with the guy to show my ID and birth certificate

Wow! Ive had it so much better on my two visits; for both I probably have only 30 minutes of time invested and had the most pleasant people ever to deal with! Isn't it interesting how widely it varies from one place to another.

You're probably in a less populated area. Normally, they are less crowded. The guy I dealt with was very nice and, hopefully, we got everything straightened out.

One of the many blessings of not intending to move ever again. I hate the hours and hours of changing everything. Glad you got it all done.

You can make an appointment to be seen at your local social security office. You may need a few extra minutes to get "into" the office (line with a guard inspecting purses, asking questions about weapons, etc.) but once you're inside the door you should be seen at your appointment time.

You can. But when I talked to the rep on the phone, the earliest appt they had at my office was Dec 2. All I had to do was take my DL and my birth certificate in for them to verify. I didn't want to hold up my SS app until then so I just went and waited.

I try to do as much as I can on line rather than by phone or in person. Much quicker and I can work on my schedule which is usually early in the morning.
