Oh I adore fruitcake , especially with a lump of cheese and an apple all snuggled up with a good book on a snowy day after Christmas.

I make my own. It's my mother's recipe. This year I made a deal with my sister. She will make me tamales and I'll make her a fruitcake. Tamales are more work. Such a deal!

I'm surprised at how many do like fruitcake. My mother made a dark fruitcake with the citron mix, candied cherries and pineapple and walnuts. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to check out the Mrs. Harvey's recipe . http://tbo.com/dining/mrs-harveys-fr...e-recipe-28012

My father loves homemade fruit cake. I have never tried it.

An update on my fruitcake quest. I ordered one from Collins Street and one from the Abby.
both very tasty and different from each other. The Collins St. is not as strong tasting. I don't have a favorite. BUT if I were to order just one I would order the Abby first, then next payday the Collins. :-)
