Back in the last 70's when Grandpa died and everyone was cleaning out the house, deviding things up, I never asked for anything and pleased at what was given me, BUT silently wishing like crazy I'd get grandmas old treadle. I'm upset but silent when my sister asks for it AND GETS IT. For years afterwards I kept hoping she'd ask if I wanted it since it was grandmas. Nope. Nothing. Since quilting I kept thinking about it til yesterday I emailed her at work and asked her if she'd be willing to give it to me. SHE GOT RID OF IT YEARS AGO! I swear my heart stopped right there. I was never asked....... :( Sorry. I just had to vent to someone who would KNOW the feelings. DH just says "well it was hers" GRRRR :x

Bev, my mother did the same thing with my grandma's machine. when I asked for it she told me it had been gone for years, and she never asked me. I was upset but I guess you will eventually get over it. Sorry about it.

I certainly understand your anger. You would have thought she'd ask the members of the family if anyone wanted it.

doesn't that teach us all a lesson, I was always like you, never asking for anything just hoping someone would read my mind and know that I secretly wanted something. I have to push myself to be a little more outspoken even though its against my nature (especially with my sister who could cut you to peices with her tongue) I have learned over the years to ask, it never hurts. You may not get what you want, but no one knows you want it unless you speak up!
