My job has decided to pay for me to go back to school to continue my education. I am thrilled however, since I have been working for so long I have to take a placement apptitude test to see where I need to start off. I am perfectly fine with the English and the numberical skills, pre-algebra and algebra section but I am not looking forward to Trigonometry! Oyyy veyyyy...wish me luck tomorrow lolol

I feel for you, all that math....I was glad to finally finish algebra, so I could get into chemistry. I hate math, but love science.

Good Luck! Clear your head, take a deep breath and go with your first instinct...it's probably right. If you don't do as well as you think you should have, ask if you can take placement test again.....most colleges will let you retake. You'll do fine!!!

Best of luck let us know how things go, I had to do the same thing when I went back to college after many years of being a parent & working full time. I'm sure you will do fine, like they said its just to figure out where to place you within the non credit subjects.

That's a great opportunity for you. And the company wouldn't be spending the money if they didn't think you were worth it, so that's got to make you feel pretty good.

I hated chemistry!!!!!!!! But w/o it I couldn't get into nursing school.

Just so you know, I finally graduated college in 2003 after grad. high school in '67. It was the proudest moment of my life. I used CLEP (college level education program, i think) tests to get about 10 classes, including the entry level English with composition they required. The tests cost less then $100 when I took them and they were great for requirements. If you buy the books and can do the practice tests you're all set. I used them for a marketing class, and other things I had learned from many years of working.

You might also be able to get credit for life experience if you write up what you know. These type of non-traditional methods of moving ahead can be a huge help to older students who want to graduate but also have lives at this point. If you would like any more info I'd be happy to help. And I know you'll do great on the placement test, so good luck!

Math is my fortay so to speak since I do all the financial aspects and investments and such but when you get in to all of those signs and such..I don't use that day to day lol I am happy they gave me the benefit though so I will use it. I love love math...just not every aspect of it :-)

greenini, I too graduated high school in 1967, got my Bachelor's degree in 2006, and my Master's in 2001. Outside of raising my twin sons, those degrees were the proudest moments of my life. I hope to hear the same thing from you one of these days. It can be tough but it's doable and you'll be so proud of yourself when you finish.
