Default Question about damage to velour yardage

I picked up 4+ yards of velour at a rummage sale. When I unfolded it, I noticed 2 spots with damage but I'm not sure how to describe it. Here's a picture of one of the spots. What caused this, what is it called and can it be fixed? Thanks!!

It might be that the pile is crushed from being folded. I would wash and dry it to see if that helps. If not, you may have to cut out the bad spots.

I agree with Tartan. It might just be from being folded or it could be damaged and that is why it was at a rummage sale.

If it's from folding, don't wash it, try steaming it and the pile should go back to its normal state.

I don't know what it's from so I washed and air dried it and it did not improve it. Thanks.

I would try the steaming first and FROM the BACK of the fabric. If it doesn't work, then try washing.
