A good free anti virus won't hurt. FYI Be sure an install the blue light filter to it. Blue light is dangerous to your health when reading the screen before sleeping. Weird but true according to all the research. The filter app is free for all computers, tablets, e readers and phones.

There is so much built in security on Apple products that you don't need it. I've used an IPad for years, do all my shopping online and have never had any problem. I do try to use PayPal whenever I can but I don't think you need anti virus on an Apple IPad, Mac or anything.

i would not buy from Best Buy. like any retailer selling policies to cover your appliance, it's just making them money. my son writes security software for adobe. when i got my ipad i asked him about security software instal for my ipad. he said Safari, the default browser for all apple products is the safest browser available. he just gave me an apple air laptop w safari and firewall, no additional security software needed. if i didn't have my son to call for help, and if i were you, i would contact apple online to see what they say about security needs for your ipad. and welcome to ipad land! i love mine. i use the camera to take pics of scrap quilt projects so i can remember assembly order, patterns & tutorials, my older pfaff has poor directions for winding bobbins, so i store a photo of what i finally figured out that i refer too when i am needing to wind another pile of bobbins. and i take lots of pics of my fuzzy quilting buddies!

I just got my third iPad, an air2, and have never had any issues. I would check with the apple people, but I don't think you need anything like that.

Nope. I have been told Apple provides that. Call Apple if you want to be sure.

My daughter says she likes Apple products, because she never has to buy or update the antivirus. She said it comes on the Apple products for life. So I don't know, but you might call the Apple store and ask.

We have had iPads for several years. We currently have iPad Airs. The people at the Apple Store where we bought them said there is no need to use an anti-virus program. The Apple system is more protected than Microsoft's system.

We've had Mac computer for years with 3 teenagers using it and never have we been hacked. My husband and I ave iPads and iPhones and we've not had any problems with those either. I use a Mac Book Pro have had it since June and no problems either. We also have a Dell Desktop with windows and that things has McAfee, it's always updating and so is Microsoft. It runs slow, locks up and I'd get rid of it but it has all my embroidery software and files on it. The kids aren't allowed to use it at all.

If you get good help from Best Buy, be very happy....you are close to the only one...you must have good personnel at your store.

I've been a MAC user for over 10 years and NEVER installed an anti-virus program on my Mac Pro, Mack Book laptop, ipad or iphone. Apple has closed architecture unlike PC's where it's open for developers and hackers to create programs. IMHO don't sweat it!
