Does anyone know what "in-kind" donations are?

I think it means when someone donates goods or services instead of cash. Like a plumber donates his skills/time to repair the church plumbing.

Yep, time, labor, or materials instead of $. An in-kind match when stipulated in a grant is value of time, labor and or materials to equal the amount of grant.

Do any of you klnow where I can donate a sewing machine? I have seen post about this in the past but have forgotten where . Any help would be appreciated

You can donate it to your local Children's Service Division at the local Welfare office. Where I live I know that they take donations of stuff and a sewing machine could maybe help a young mother that is trying to get her kids back or has just gotten them back. Sometimes the Planned Parenthood will take donations. I am sure that you will find a good home for it. :) Even schools can use them. I know with all the budget cuts they keep making for the schools that some schools cant afford to buy or replace the ones that they have. Good Luck on whereever or whomever you donate it to. :)
