I had a garage sale with fabrics priced at 1/2 the original price. Sold alot. The balance was going to charity with a slip for the total yardage and I can write off on my taxes It has to be a 501c charity.

Default The requirements for selling are a bit too much for me...

I would love to use this board for selling some of my extensive stash, but the requirements are a bit much for me. I look at my posts and I need to post several more times to qualify and it feels phony to me to just post for the sake of qualifying. I do post occasionally when my heart is in it, but I don't want to do it just to qualify.

IMHO

MAYBE WE SHOULD ALL SWITCH STASHES!!! Call it a stash swap, I will send you 5 yards (you choose colors/types) and you send me 5 yards.... Hmmm.

I check out ebay for price comparision but rarely buy there anymore. I get fabrics online much cheaper other places and of course local stores. Things have gotten really expensive on ebay now. I usually buy vintage things so I have gone over to ETSY .. Its cheaper and for the most part friendly since its not big businesses selling there. Craigslist is where I just got my bed.. for $65 yeah!! its an antique too. I shop in a lot of different online places depending on where I can get the cheaper price.

I agree...shipping is what is killing everyone...I was going to bid on a bedspread $12.00 that I really liked and was looking for, shipping 16.50. NO Way was I falling for that...they hurt themselves

But how do you know that it wouldn't actually have cost the seller $16.50 to ship it? Since it was a bedspread, it was probably too bulky to fit in any of the USPS flat-rate boxes. It can cost more to ship big-and-puffy things. And shipping by UPS or FedEx can be quite pricey. Plus if the seller is in the middle of nowhere, and he/she has to drive to the Post Office/FedEx/UPS shipping center, there is an actual cost to the seller in terms of the fuel spent. Not to mention that a portion of that $16.50 also goes to eBay/PayPal for the fees. They take a cut of everything, including the shipping fees.

Just sayin' that to understand the big picture you have to try to view it from all possible perspectives.

Just wondering , I really need to de-stash and it is a lot of work to list everything and not get a bid .I have tubs and tubs of fabric and plan to only keep about 10 projects that I have made into kits for myself . I am tired of no room to work and being so overwhelmed I do nothing so the time has come to simplify
I notice the same thing the other day. I went into ebay just to check the going prices on fabrics and old magazines. Nothing! I mean like you said, it's not worth the fees if noone is going to bid or even Buy Now. Good luck on your destashing! I'm keeping mine or selling on here at a later time.
