My DH is trying to find a bag to hold his tire pump and attach it to his motorcycle. He bought a small pump that fits in a saddle bag, but with the hot weather, if he has to use it, he would probably pass out before getting enough air in his tire! The one he wants to carry is a large bicyle pump thats a lot easier to use.

He's looked online and at several stores and hasn't found one long enough. I told him I would make one if I could figure out how to make it water-proof and also sturdy enough. I have a good, sturdy sewing machine that could hand tough fabric. But, the needle holes would allow water to seep in.

Does anyone know of a website with ideas/fabric suitable for a bag. I'm thinking something along the line of a skinny duffle bag. I'm not sure that heavy, miltary type fabric would be completely water proof. Maybe water resistent but with the downpours we get here the bag would get a good soaking.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    ;-)

I'm not sure it would work but what about fishing pole bags? They are long, zip up, and I THINK they are waterproof. If is is too long for the pump, you could maybe fold down some of the extra . Hope this helps.

There is a new product that comes in a spray can. When you spray it on, it dries to a flexible rubber type material. They use it on RVs, mobile homes, etc. where it can take some bending and not break open a seam to allow water leaks.

LLBean sells waterproof bags for boating and beach life. The top folds over several times and seals to make it waterproof, and it come in several sizes. I see if I can find a link.

    See if this helps.

Have you ever sewed with the thick plastic vinyl sheeting that comes on a long roll at Walmart? I have made many clear bags with this plastic vinyl and they hold up well.

Have you looked into PUL? The holes shrink when it is dried on hot in the dryer.
