My family used to fix what we called Dutch Dish for lunch. I have never seen anyone else eat or fix this.
Chop tomatoes, cucumbers and onion in a bowl. Pour milk to cover, ( no the milk DOES NOT curdle). Chill for an hour and eat with salt & pepper sprinkled on.
Best with fresh veggies from the garden.
Whenever I fix this at work people look at me like I have 3 heads. Don't know what they are missing.

It's like a cucumber - tomato salad, nothing new to us!

Try this with english cucumbers, the don't have the seeds.

So...having never made this, those of you who use ranch, do you still do the milk step or just use ranch instead? Same with the vinegar and oil -- in addition or instead of the milk?

Thanks!
