Check out this site on “elimination communication.” We had many parents using this technique with their babies 6 years ago in Austin. It’s known all over the world; the US is one of the few countries that teaches it infants to ignore the call of nature and go in their pants/diapers. Then we turn around about two years later and demand the babies stop “messing” and get “trained.”
It’s a fascinating subject actually, LOL!

Wow! That's pretty amazing. I thought my kids were good being trained by 12 months. I agree with the other "old schoolers" that the parents today wait too long. When I spent a weekend with my 2 1/2 yr old grandson he didn't pee or poop in his diapers once during the day. Daughter & SIL are too "busy" (translate that to lazy) to keep it up and at over 3 yrs he's still in diapers. They said he'll go when he's ready. Well, he was ready that weekend back in May!

I came across an old (1940's ) parenting book - they talked about this technique as if it were commonplace. Even recommended, be sure to support the baby's head while you have them sitting on the potty as people were doing it when the baby was very young.

I agree. I was talking to someone else who says she doesn't even try to potty train until her kids are 3 years old (She has 3 kids.). All I could think about was the financial cost of all those diapers for all those years.
