Yup the cold weather and rising prices are effecting everyone.. We have propane.. and we also have a huge indoor fireplace that heats the house as the fireplace has blowers that push the heat throughout the house.. Pretty neat idea.. If we lose power we have our generator but we also have a back up Propane stove/oven in the basement ( its used for canning ) or a very bad LONG power outage.. I guess with every power outage, ice storm, winter blizzard we learn something new to 'have' for the next time..

We have gone thru sooo much wood this winter, thank goodness we have acres and acres of trees so teh wood is relatively free but its a lot of hard work chopping and splitting.... But the alternative is a heck of a lot worse... I chose HEAT !!

stay warn everyone.. and stay safe..

I've always lived in town with natural gas. I moved to the country in Sept. with propane heat, stove, water heater. The tank was filled in Sept. The propane co. automatically checks the level when they're in the area. Since then, I've had 2 fill-ups, 160 gal in Jan. at $2.53/gal, last week, 268 gal. at $3.63--$1450 total. Heat is at 62 while I'm at work and at night. 69 when I'm home and I'm still cold, even though I wear longjohns and a sweatshirt. I have a small electric space heater for my sewing room--at least I'm comfortable in there.

We heat with wood, and we've gone through a lot of it this winter!
