Ice compression elevation and rest, just like an ankle. I have broken a couple toes over the years (clumsy and osteoporotic!!)

Do take care. Mine never went back quite right and I have shoes that won't fit properly. As a shoe addict, this is killing me and I am keeping them anyway hoping my feet will shrink or someday I'll have surgery.

ugh ugh! I'm sorry for your pain ( it hurts a lot more than people think!) and hope you heal properly.

Because I don't wear shoes in the house during the summer, I often have broken the little toes, just wear flat sandals and it will heal--a big toe is another situation, completely. Never had to deal with one of them. piecefully, the old one

When I broke mine it was at right angles to my foot. The doctor did his thing and my toe is OK today. It does not tell me about the weather so he must have done it correctly.
My toe was pointing south when the rest of my toes were pointing west - stupid door frame jumped out and attacked my bare foot!

I WAS able to tape it to my foot and that reduced the pain immensely - HOWEVER - it was still dislocated when we got to the emergency room - and I am so glad that I had it taken care of.

In my opinion, it is not worth taking a chance on having foot pain for the rest of one's life.

I didn't break my little toe, but did break one of the bones behind my big toe. The doctor told me it could take up to 6 months to heal. I think I broke it in January and have been wearing a dancers pad for the last 3 months, still hurts but not as bad or as often as before.

guess I was lucky when I ran into a stool and had my little toe cocked out to the side. I just iced it and taped it for several days and tho it was horribly
bruised it healed fine but does tell me when bad weather is coming

Cut out the toe part on your tennis shoes.

This will work great until you can see the podiatrist.

My DH says I have square feet and they look like duck feet, hence I have broken my little toes a lot. I just kick something, look down and it's at a right angle, I bend it back and tape it to it's neighbor. The worst I did was trip over a cat, and in the process of catching myself before I fell on her, backslapped my refrigerator, didn't even hurt, but then couldn't open my middle finger, had to have day surgery to correct it, came home that afternoon and kicked off my shoes headed for the bed and tripped on a different cat(supposed to be outsiders, NOT) and broke my little toe. Rough few weeks, but then I'm used to it, I am not a graceful, girly gal!!

Tape it to the next toe. There is nothing that can be done for a broken toe.

My Godchild broke her little toe and the doctor put her in one of those "shoes". If you go to your local thrift store, there will be a couple of those for a few dollars instead of the $50 at the pharmacy. She wore that for a while and now all is better. Good luck and be careful.
