do you put the peanut butter on the top where they say to put it?? We found if you put a small amount under that spot the mouse has to work harder to get it and gets caught

I had an awful problem with mice. Tried all the plug in the wall devices---all that did was draw more & make it worse. I was beside myself. Tried the sticky traps etc. Nothing workedl. By accident my washer overflowed & I had to pull it out to clean up the water. OMG! I found the mice had come thru an outside dryer vent into the vent tubing & chewed a hole thru the dryer vent tubing that was inside the house in my laundry room. The mice were coming in like crazy at this point. I had a metal dryer tubing installed & screened the outside vent. Boy this helped a lot! But I still had trouble with the mice coming in somewhere else in the house. I smelled gas by my kitchen stove & my nephew came over & pulled out the stove. This is second place they were coming into the house. There was space around the gas pipe to the outside & mice were coming in. Had this fixed and that finally stopped the mice from coming in the house. But the first thing you need to do is get rid of the plug in devices because that draws them all to your place. I never had any trouble after fixing those 3 things. But thought I would go crazy til then.

Oh at work a mouse died in the wall somewhere and for a whole month i had to sit in Reception and work. no one wanted to relieve me!! talk about smell. The environmental guy said it was bad for me. ya think??
good for you not putting poison out!! cat's don't always want mice. i won't let mine (she goes out on a leash) find the wood mice that are in our yard. i'm always afraid she'd get something from eating one. yuck.
call a company and see what then can do. good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for the response I have unplugged my electrical devises and am putting out the water in a bucket with peanut butter Hope it works they terrify me

There is a contraption called a rat zapper. We used one here to catch chipmunks until we got cats. This little device is run on batteries. You put a little bait in it, the animal goes in it, and it gets a quick, humane jolt. It can be used over and over, and has no ill effects on the environment.

Everyone in entitled to their own beliefs, but poisoning an animal is a slow painful death, and also, if by chance the poisoned animal gets consumed by another animal down the raid, the trail of poison continues.

Also if it gets spilled, etc, more spread of poison. I prefer a quick, clean kill, but that is just my two cents.

The best bait I have ever used is peanut butter cookie dough. I have no idea why it works better than plain peanutbutter. It just does. It has not failed me yet. Best wishes.

use decon. it dries them out, and they never stink. and put a little water close to it, if you can. as soon as they drink, they fall over dead.

Too bad but it's true that cats are not necessarily good mousers. I live in the country too and had problems with mice until I found out where they were coming into the house. Check around your plumbing going into and out of the house, any drains or vents. If you have to it's worth getting a service like Terminex to help you out. Once you find the openings, stuff the openings with steel wool. I did this 2 years ago and have had no mice since then.

Don't use peanut butter. Get a piece of fat meat such as fried bacon. TIE IT ON THE TRAP WITH GOOD SEWING THREAD SO THEY CAN'T PULL IT OFF. We use this all the time, when we see a mouse. WRAP, WRAP WRAP. They get their teeth hung in the thread and they are dead. la,la,la. This is the spring type trap. The spring comes down and raps him good and kills him.

If you are seeing it during the day eating dog food it might not be a mouse. You could have a mole, they are pesky and harder to catch. One tip I had never heard of was when you do set a trap put it right next to the wall as mice tend to follow the wall when they run. That's another reason I wonder if you have a mole instead of a mouse. Good luck.

I read somewhere to put dryer sheets in drawers and places they come in. Course this was for a camper. I am going to try that this year when we store our camper. Every spring I have to clean mice poop from the camper after their winter party.
