Question Help sewing a manual buttonhole on Bernina 440QE

I'm following the instruction book (Pages 52-53) but can't achieve sewing a whole buttonhole, only the first part of step one.

The manual suggests the machine set-up - which I have followed and I am using a No3 buttonhole foot.
"Preparation" as per instructions is what I have achieved on my machine. So everything should be good to go.

The instructions say: "Step 1: sew the first bead forward up to the length mark, stop the sewing computer press the Quick reverse button" - but I press the quick reverse button, nothing happens.

Can anyone help please?

The PDF manual can be found here: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Suppor...0_a440_a450_EN

I've resolved this now. I had hold down the reverse stitch button and begin sewing. The machine does not go into reverse immediately but does eventually do what is needed to follow the buttonhole pattern.
