Default Holiday Music

Hope you are having moments of peace.

The hubby is not a fan of Christmas music, whether religious or snowman based. We usually have a date morning Sundays but I have a bit of a cold so stayed home and am enjoying myself with a loud holiday marathon. It's not that I can't play it when he's home, it's just more that he just tolerates it. We have quite a few musical taste differences.

Hubby also isn't a fan of Reggae, so my bargain label Reggae Christmas CD I got that I can't find on-line is a double no-no. Put that one on first. Lovely version of Mary's Boy Child.

Currently on is one by Pentatonix, That's Christmas to Me. I was a musician myself and am just so floored and amazed by a cappella talent.

If you have somehow never been exposed to them, pull up one of the youtube channels and let it go -- you've got to like something they do.

Next will be a personal favorite, Lovemongers, Here is Christmas.

Lovemongers is Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. You can certainly hear it and while this does contain some lovely tradition songs, I think one of the most beautiful and heartfelt versions of Ave Maria I've ever heard, it's more modern than a collection of carols yet mixes in nicely my other selections.

It will most likely be still playing when the hubby comes home but after that will be one of the Very Special Christmas compilations, a fundraiser for Special Olympics. I have most of them but it is Volume 3 that is in the CD player. Especially like Blue Traveler's Christmas as a song for all regardless of who we are.

Love your story of enjoying your music for a relaxing moment.

DD invited me to her high school for a Christmas musical this year. She is a teacher and some of the group members are her students too.. It was our "special mother-daughter" event that we try to fit into our hectic schedules. The students and conductor were fabulous with a variety of cultures and music.

I appreciated the time with DD and making memories with her. The best gift.

Alexa plays music for me on the weekends. I like moving Christmas music, I do like some of the traditional music. Mary's Boy Child is a forever favorite also Ava Maria.

That's so great that y'all have a date morning. We share one too. DH and I go out and about on Saturday mornings. The farmer's market, seafood market, lunch and anywhere else we think of to go. Last Saturday we took a drive to Bucee's, which is a huge Super center type travel gas station. Simple but fun. I love Christmas music, but not before Halloween. I play it in my car all season. There is a radio station close by that converts to all Christmas.

My fav is the traditional Christmas music. Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Manheim Steamroller, etc. not the silly songs.

This year instead of the usual Christmas music I have been listening to and relaxing to Anfrea Bocelli. His voice is like pure silk.

Love your selections, especially the Pentatonix! You might also want to search for "One Voice" written by the Wailin Jennys. The YouTube of a group singing this, I think it was the US Air Force Band, is just great.

I love most music and do love traditional Christmas music. Still love Bing Crosby and Perry Cuomo, Adele, Susan Boyle, josh Grogan, Andrea Bocelli and Willie Nelson! My favorite is Ave Maria by Pavarotti and Hallelujah by Lenny Cohen. I love classical music best and while I can’t carry a tune, I sing along with all of my CDs...the cat doesn’t mind. Lol

I also love Christmas music and really enjoy Pentatonix and Home Free for a cappella.

I have a fairly eclectic taste in music, and Christmas music has always been a favorite. My husband would rather watch TV (how many episodes of CSI can you watch?) so he goes in the bedroom to watch TV while I wail away with the music in the living/dining room while I sew. Yesterday I loaded up my playlist with all Christmas songs and had a great day putting up the tree and decorations, and then started quilting my Christmas quilt panel.

Iceblossom I'm going to have to look for your Reggae Christmas album. That sounds awesome!
