How does eBates work?

How does eBates work?
I signed up because I do a lot of shopping online; a rebate would be nice! But I'm confused. Do I need to go to eBates first and access a store such as Amazon that way? Or can I just go directly to Amazon? I'm assuming I need to go to eBates and click on Amazon there so that the purchase is credited to my eBates account, right???

I have been using ebates for 10+ years - I have earned about $1,300 over the years (I should be in one of their commercials). When I retired & relocated, I bought a ton of stuff on line - that quarter I earned about $150. If I am buying gift cards (particularly at the holidays) - especially Kohls & Lane Bryant, I order onine and earn the 3-6% or more %. I have referred so many people.
