We havn't had enough sunshine to ripen many tomatoes yet. I have ton's of green tomatoes on the plants but it has been a cool summer so far for us.

My garden is starting to stop. I haven't mastered Alabama gardening yet. I'm getting closer... Next year I'll be starting over with a new garden... I'm going to make it smaller at the next house, about half the size. I think I'm good for peppers, tomatoes, beans and some squash so I'm definitely going to downsize since I don't have the time to tend to it as much as I'd like...

Got some lovely deep purple morning glories, moonflowers, red impatiens, and some Swedish ivy. Everything looks lovely. (I've been a super plant caretaker this year) I do have two cherry tomoto plants too, and get to pick off about 8 tomatoes every day. They are delicious!

My next door neighbor supplies me with cucumbers, squash, & tomatoes so I just stick to the flowers. The dry month of July & monsoon month of Aug has been hard to keep the flowers happy. We got 6" of water in 24hrs on Sat/Sunday.

It is doing well. I have harvested beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, peppers, radishes, mustard, and lettuce. Watermellons, cantalope, and pumpkins are getting big.

Problems - Tomatoes and potatoes are going brown from the bottom up. Still forming blossoms at the top of the tomatoes but the bottom of the plant is dead. Most of the potato plants have lost all the foliage. I am wondering if there is some kind of virus. - Planted 24 raspberries and half have died. And half of the ones surviving don't look too good. I am guessing I may have used too much compost, (half & half) otherwise I am stumped. I do have 5 real nice looking plants. I am glad they are guarenteed.

Just finished prepping 2 new flower gardens yesterday. That makes 10 flower gardens and 2 vegetable gardens. Haven't got much sewing done this summer.

Have some wonderful bicolor and yellow roses, giant butterfly bush and cone flowers. Entered them in the county fair and got a couple blue ribbons and red ones.

My weeds are doing wonderfully! Actually some things did quite well and others not. My fruit bushes were exceptional and I am still getting some strawberries. My fig trees are chock full. Raspberries and blackberries are going strong and my grapes are doing wonderfully. Tomatoes not the best. Early on I lost a lot to end rot in the heat and now there seems to be some sort of blight spreading through them, but the fruit is still good. I have side by side compost bins that I didn't get around to turning fast enough this year and they are a tomato, potato, cucumber and pumpkin jungle. Here are a couple of photos taken six weeks ago.
